THUMBTECHS History
THUMBTECHS is the latest step in the evolution of a business that began over 10 years ago as a typical start-up one-man operation IT firm. Originally called GFIT, named after THUMBTECHS President, George Fassett, was modeled after what nearly every other IT consulting firm was doing; a charge-by-the-hour service, responding ONLY when a problem arose. In effect this is the antithese of the type of costly, reactive services that THUMBTECHS avoids.
However, all of that changed in the fall of 2000 when a devastating tornado hit downtown Fort Worth. Many of GFIT’s clients had offices in the BankOne building, which meant that many of GFIT’s clients had immediate need for service. With our technicians on the job, we were able to get the majority of our clients’ data retrieved and up in running in days. Some even the day after. Since we were still charging by the hour, this created a great windfall for the company. Using that money, GFIT remade its business plan into the model that we use now, and to mark that change we remade our image as well. What you have before you is the result of that change, a new business structure that puts your IT firm on your side, a new professional look, and a new name, THUMBTECHS.
